We’re the Classic Forgemasters.

A family run business operating independently since 2014 but with decades of industry experience.

Classic Forgemasters consists of brothers Rob and Steve. Growing up in the West Midlands and relocating to Cornwall at a young age, they both apprenticed as Blacksmiths in the North Devon town of Minehead before eventually making their separate ways to Bristol where they have lived for the past 40 years. Both having raised families in the area they now live at opposite ends of Bristol with a workshop equidistant between Bristol and Bath.

Classic Forgemasters was founded in 2014 as a way for us to independently pursue our passion for traditional blacksmithing. Although the commercial requirements for this industry aren’t what they once were, we have managed to carve out a niche where we use traditional techniques and styles for contemporary commissions. In the residential sector we have noticed a demand for more bespoke metalwork, be this on building exteriors or interiors, where our clients require function with a traditional form. Furthermore we are able to exercise our skills fully when we receive commissions to restore historic metalwork, which we receive from various sectors.

Rob and Steve both have a passion for history and architecture, as well as a keen interest in general engineering. In his spare time, Rob enjoys to travel, escorting his wife to countries around the world where she completes her marathons as he samples the local culture. Steve’s time is mostly taken up spending it with his family where he has a young daughter, but always finds time to indulge in his passions of film and cricket. They’re both keen fans of motor racing and have made several trips to the Le Mans 24 hour race in France.
